I’m a 20-year-old sports photographer passionate about capturing memories through a lens. I’m a second year at Penn State University intending to major in photojournalism. My favorite sports to photograph are hockey, lacrosse and soccer. When i’m not doing photography, you can probably find me either listening to Lizzy McAlpine, doing yoga or watching hockey.
From a young age, I've always loved taking photos. In my freshman year of high school, I registered to take my school's yearbook class, where I began to explore photography in a more professional aspect. Yearbook class not only taught me how to use a professional camera but also lighting techniques, different styles of photography, photo editing skills, and more. I ended up taking yearbook all four years and received multiple leadership opportunities. Throughout all four years, I was had many opportunities when it came to photographing games and events, running social media accounts, being a sports team photographer for multiple teams, and more. It was around my junior year that I began to realize that this was what I was truly passionate about and wanted to do for a career.
In my junior year of highschool, I had determined that photography, sports specifically, was what I wanted to do. I then determined my top schools with photojournalism programs. I was accepted to Penn State and when I stepped on campus, I knew in that moment it was home for me. I decided to apply for The Daily Collegian, which is one of the school's student news programs. They have a physical newspaper publication, alongside a website where articles are published. After meeting the Daily Collegian photo team, I felt right at home. I had never been surrounded by so many people with such a passion for the same thing I did. I have learned so much already through this incredible organization. I am currently a senior photographer and newsletter staff member.
